How we scope and price work

Every project is quoted as a fixed price against a scoped brief. We do not bill hourly, because hourly billing rewards slow work and leaves you unable to budget. Ongoing work maintenance, campaigns, monitoring runs as a monthly retainer.

We have not published starting figures, because a number without a scope is either meaningless or misleading: the same brief can differ threefold depending on integrations, content readiness and how many edge cases the business has. What we can do is show exactly what drives the cost, so you can place yourself on the range before you talk to us.

Questions about cost and terms

Because a number without a scope is either meaningless or misleading. The same brief can differ threefold depending on integrations, content readiness and how many edge cases the business actually has. We quote a fixed price once we know what we are quoting for.

Any change is re-quoted and agreed before we start it, so the figure you approved is the figure you pay. Scope changes are normal on real projects; discovering one on the invoice is not, and hourly billing makes that outcome likely.

Hourly billing pays us more for working slowly and leaves you unable to budget. It also makes every conversation about efficiency awkward. Fixed price against a defined scope puts the risk of our estimate on us, which is where it belongs.

Work is invoiced across milestones rather than entirely upfront or entirely on delivery. That keeps both sides exposed to roughly equal risk at any point, which tends to produce better behaviour than either extreme.

A single landing page is a normal engagement. Below that — a copy change, one bug — you are better served by a maintenance retainer or by your existing developer, and we will point you there rather than take the work.

Thirty minutes is usually enough to scope a project well enough to quote it. If the answer is that you should not build this, we will say so.
