Restaurants & Food Service

A POS built on a restaurant floor, not in a product meeting

Restaurant software is the system that takes an order, bills it, tells the kitchen and records what it cost you — and it is judged at the counter during a rush, not in a demo. If booking an order takes thirty seconds, the queue builds and staff work around the system instead of through it. We built the Pizza Theory POS end to end.

What usually goes wrong

The problems we are most often called in to fix in this sector.

  • Order entry slow enough to build a queue

Every extra second per order compounds across a dinner rush. The Pizza Theory POS books an order in under ten seconds, which is the difference between the system helping and the system being bypassed.

  • Unpaid and incorrect orders reaching the kitchen

A kitchen that starts cooking before payment confirms absorbs every mistake as wasted food. A payment-gated queue means an order only reaches the kitchen once it is paid for.

  • Customers asking staff where their order is

Every status question interrupts someone working. Real-time notifications through placed, preparing and ready-for-pickup remove almost all of those interruptions.

  • Stock and expenses reconciled after closing

Counting stock and totting up expenses at the end of a shift is where margin quietly disappears. Inventory and expense tracking inside the POS make the numbers a by-product of service.

  • Inventory and expense tracking

Stock movement and expenses captured as part of service rather than reconstructed after closing, with reports that show where margin is going.

  • Restaurant websites and ordering pages

Menu, location and ordering built for a phone held one-handed, which is how most food decisions are actually made.

Restaurants & Food Service questions

This is the right question to ask any POS vendor, and you should ask us about your specific setup during scoping rather than take a general answer. Connectivity behaviour is one of the details that decides whether a system survives a real service.

Usually not. The system runs in a browser, so existing tablets or a counter PC generally work. Printers and payment terminals depend on what you already have, which we check during scoping before anyone buys anything.

Subscription POS products are genuinely good and cheaper to start. Custom makes sense when your flow is the advantage — a payment-gated kitchen queue, a specific notification sequence — or when per-outlet licensing across several sites exceeds owning it.

Yes, and you should be able to without raising a request. Menus, prices and availability are editable by an owner or manager account, because a restaurant that has to ask permission to change a price will stop using the system correctly.
